What To Expect
The experience begins in heart of Eixample neighborhood, where you will set off to explore the natural beauty of Montserrat, one of Catalonia’s most iconic mountains. Crowned by a Benedictine Monastery, Montserrat is the perfect destination for a half-day trip, offering a memorable escape into nature just a short drive from Barcelona. Along the journey, admire the breathtaking Massif of Montserrat, known for its striking, needle-shaped rock formations.
Upon arrival, your guide will take you through the history of the Monastery, founded in the 10th century and still active today with over 70 monks. As your guide narrates the centuries-old stories of the Monastery and its significance, you’ll gain a deep understanding of this nearly thousand-year-old site. Afterward, enjoy some free time to explore the surrounding area, visit the local farmers market, relax in the cafe, or browse for souvenirs. You will also have the option to visit the revered figure of La Moreneta, the Black Madonna and patron saint of Catalonia if the upgrade option is selected. Once you’ve had time to take in the atmosphere, you will reunite with your guide and board the bus for a comfortable return journey to Barcelona.
